If you're eligible, from 1 July 2009 you can claim the Education Tax Refund for eligible education spending from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009.

The Education Tax Refund will help eligible families and independent students with the cost of primary and secondary education.

How much is the Education Tax Refund?

The Education Tax Refund means eligible parents, carers, legal guardians and independent students could get 50 per cent back on some education expenses. This includes items like computers, educational software, textbooks and stationery.

Can I get the Education Tax Refund?

Most people are eligible for the Education Tax Refund because they receive Family Tax Benefit Part A. However, there are some payments that may prevent you from receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A, but still entitle you to receive the refund.
