What, Why and How of Family Assistance
This booklet has been developed to help you understand the range of services you are entitled to when you are raising your children and your responsibilities. The payments discussed in this booklet include:
- Family Tax Benefit PART A - this is the MOST COMMON payment to help families with the cost of raising children and is paid per child.
- Family Tax Benefit PART B - gives extra assistance to sole parent families and to families with one main income where one parent chooses to stay at home to balance some paid work with caring for their children.
- Child Care Benefit - helps with the costs of child care.
- Baby Bonus - helps with the costs of a new baby.
- Maternity Immunisation Allowance - a separate allowance to encourage parents to immunise their children.
